It depends on the tap design.

If it is a tap with a single lever, it is probably impossible to dismantle it and clean it yourself. If, however, you have a tap with two handles (one for hot water and one for cold), it is relatively easy to remove the tap cartridge and give it a good clean. All you need is a few essential tools and a bit of time.
