Stale smelling clothes all the time

No matter how many times I clean my washing machine my clothes are consistently coming out smelling stale and mouldy.

A persistent stale or mouldy smell in clothes usually stems from your washing machine harboring moisture, buildup, or poor ventilation. Common culprits include detergent residue, trapped water (especially in front-loaders), dirty filters, clogged drain hoses, or even a dry P-trap causing sewer odours. To combat this, run periodic hot cycles with white vinegar, thoroughly clean the drum, seals, detergent dispenser, and filters, leave the door ajar between washes for proper airflow, and ensure the plumbing and ventilation are functioning properly.
